She was inspired to launch her platform during the beginning of the pandemic after noticing black Santas in Target during the holiday season.The joy this inclusivity brought her led her to want to highlight other black-owned products in Target and other retailers. Marissa emphasizes the importance of being able to shop for products that are made for and by people that look like you. She mentions the importance of leveraging the push for diversity as generational power shifts. Marissa stresses that her platform is not only for the benefit of the black-owned businesses but for the retailers she discovers the product in.
